History

The FGAG had its beginnings in a cottage meeting setting. Weekly services were conducted at Rev. Kunjumon Daniel's Residence in Scarborough, Ontario and then it was moved to Bro. Varghese Thomas's residence in Concord, Ontario. This small informal setting served as the platform to instill unity and a sense of common purpose among the brethren. As the Lord fostered growth in the assembly the need arose for more adequate facilities for worship purposes. A more formal church setting was sought after and through the Lord's provision in the later part of August 1989, rented facilities at Downsview, Ontario were obtained. Those who were attending the fellowship in those days may recall that the services were held at Armour Heights United in Downsview. Even though we had found a place to worship we were still plagued by time constraints forced on us by the shared facilities. The Lord again intervened and later in the same year, the Full Gospel Assembly of God (FGAG) was officially affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and became an ethnic extension of their work centered on developing assemblies. In the early days of the church, the service was held in Malayalam, but as the church grew in membership from other language groups it changed to English.

For about ten years we conducted our services in Agincourt Pentecostal Church and for a short time we used the facility of Shepherd Village, and then the Lord opened the door to purchase a beautiful historical Church in Markham. The purchase of the “new” church in itself is a classic illustration of God’s miraculous providence. In August 2005 we moved to the new facility. Members attending the church come from all over the Greater Toronto Area, including Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan and Markham.

For more than two decades God is using this church to reach Hindus, Muslims, and people of other religions, and to bring them to the salvation, to baptize, and disciple them to become faithful witnesses. Rev. Daniel has published several books, articles that are used as tools for evangelism and education. This church is at the forefront in fulfilling divine purposes among different people groups especially the ever-growing immigrant community. The new immigrants are assisted in many ways such as counseling, language education, and career guidance besides catering to their spiritual and social needs. The church has youth oriented and family focused ministries. Picnics, special meetings, conventions and retreats are a few ways the church tries to reach the community.
